With Christmas looming closer and closer everyone is putting together their final plans and preparations for the big day. For most of us it can be a struggle to find a surge of inspiration when it comes to buying gifts and planning surprises. If this sounds like you then have you thought of a sheepskin jacket or coat? It may just tick all the right boxes.

As practicality goes they are unbeatable, they shrug off a wintry British blizzard effortlessly, as well as being super soft, cosy and above all comfortable. What's more is they simply ooze luxury, and few jackets or coats out there can claim to have such a enduring hold on the archives of the fashion world.

They can be pricey depending on your budget and the style you opt for. For instance a ladies lambskin Toscana coat can retail for thousands and a sheepskin flying jacket start around £300 mark. However when you take into consideration the lifespan of a good quality shearling lambskin or sheepskin coat it starts to look like a bargain. A good quality one can easily last you 10 - 15 years and remain fashionable, which is far more than can be said for many jackets and coats out there which retail in our favourite high street shops with an unjustified price tag with regard to quality.

Christmas Shopping

Love it or loath it Christmas is just around the corner. Soon there will be non stop Christmas songs on the radio, frantic preparations, good old fashioned friends and family gatherings but best of all no work.

One thing that's inevitable at this time and awfully time consuming is present shopping. With such busy lives some of us can get caught short leaving it all to the last minute despite our best endeavours. Even though online shopping has made life a lot easier it is never full proof especially if you leave it to the last minute at this time of year. Whatever you've got your eye on could run out of stock and couriers always get overloaded and even if a parcel is dispatched on a next working day service there is still a chance it will be one of the unlucky ones.

Nevertheless these little problems can be avoided providing you don't leave it all to the last minute!
Whether it's something small like a book, DVD or something big and extravagant like a beautiful lambskin Toscana coat disappointment is easily avoidable, just don;t leave it too late!

Best Winter Woolies

It's mid November, the temperature is dropping fast, afternoons have disappeared into nights and frosty foggy morning's are becoming ever more customary. So what could possibly be better than a shearling sheepskin to keep the wintry mist at bay.

The film is tipped to have a great script as well top notch acting and directing so much so that rumours of an Oscar are gathering momentum. What's Your Favorite Season?

The days are getting shorter, the temperature has dropped and to top it off rain has set in…so it looks like the summer is well and truly over. Usually at this time of year I would personally welcome a change in climate after a long summer of sweltering heat. However this year we have been well short of any such weather and I think we all probably feel a little robbed of a worthwhile summer.

However on the bright side of things we all have the new seasons of fashion to look forward to. Although I love the hot weather and the longer days in summer I must admit that I much prefer the autumn and winter attire, hands down! There is just so much more variety to choose from, I feel like everyone always looks just that extra bit smarter and more elegant. I would have to say it’s my favorite season, and without having to save up for a summer holiday I feel less guilty spoiling myself every once in a while.

New 2013 Autumn Winter Season

Can you believe it's only 3 months Christmas, doesn’t time fly! It seems like the summer only started last week and we were planning a holiday where we could flaunt our summer wardrobe. So what better to prepare and distract us from the bitterness of winter than peruse the new Autumn Winter Collections from our favorite retailers.

Here at UK Leather Jackets we are putting together the finishing touches on our range for the new season. We’ve added a selection of new styles which we think will catch the eyes of many leather enthusiast’s out there. We will be adding new styles to our classic range as well as our fashion range for both and women. As well as some beautiful and luxurious pieces to our men and women’s sheepskin range and of course our Toscana range for ladies will see some utterly divine additions this autumn.

How to Distinguish Real from Faux

Imitations of leather jackets are becoming more common nowadays as the high street looks to cut costs and maintain profits. Leather isn’t the only apparel victimised, in general the quality of many clothes out there from our beloved brands have steadily decreased over the last 10 years. Which is odd really, as consumers, especially during this economic uncertainty, we are feeling the pinch on our purses, whilst prices inflate and quality downturns. It begs the question, ‘what are we getting for our money?’ Bargains can still be found, it just takes some trawling.

So how can you tell apart real leather from fake? Price used to be a good indication but in this era it’s not a full proof guideline. However if you stick to the following 3 tips you should be fine   

1. The Tag – In the EU it is a legal requirement for clothing to specify exactly what materials it is comprised of. (i.e genuine leather or 100% leather) 
2. Texture – Faux leather is likely to feel synthetic or feel like a blend of materials.  
3. Smell – If you’ve ever stepped into a leather shop they have a certain aroma, some would describe it as a ‘woodsy’ smell.

Leather in Summer?

Leather is one of the most versatile materials out there, it's soft, light, comfortable, keeps you warm or cool depedning on the weather and can be available in an array of colours if you know where to look. What's more they look great for both smart and casual wear depending on the occassion. Leather jackets remain a stable choice even when the summer rolls round.

Another Giant Leap for Mankind

It's a very exciting time for space exploration. On the 6th August 2012 after 10 year's of development costing $2.5bn and a journey of almost 570 million km NASA successfully landed the robot rover 'Curiosity' on the surface of Mars.
The mission objective is to determine whether Mars has ever been able to support life through analysing various rock samples and identifying their compositions.

Who knows what the future will hold for the next generation in furthering space exploration!

Two of a Kind

Some think it's tacky when couples dress alike however there are some who can pull it off. The obvious couple who seem to get their fashion choices right are the Beckham's. Except on the odd occasion like in 1999 when the infamous couple were photographed in matching leather outfits, complete horror show!

It's All About 90's Action Movies

Here in the office we've been having a little debate on action movies. We're of the opinion that action movies aren't quite what they used to be and since the 90's action movies have slowly gone down hill. Even though some have been a 'lil cheesy they entertained us, even to this day. The action movie stars of today simply can't compete with the likes of Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Bruce Willis, Stephen Segal and Van Damme. They were iconic and epitomised the word 'cool', you just could't beat Arnie all dressed in leather on a Harley, but who are we left with now to fill there shoes?

Olympic Farewell

If you're anything like us you've also been glued during the last 2 weeks. With the Olympics well and truly over and the highly anticipated closing ceremony giving the athletes and spectators form all corners of the globe a proper British send off, what are your post games reflections?

To get this effect, the leather is very lightly sanded with sand paper when manufactured.
